All my staff quite rightly want a pay rise, to service that we need to increase targets - but how can we do that when the legal aid rates stay static - I cannot ask my team to do any more hours than they do already do. I really do not see how my firm can continue beyond another couple of years before I will need to make about 50 people redundant because the cost of running a high street primarily legal aid practice will mean we are running at a loss. We can sustain it in the short term but the writing is on the wall without a doubt. The government don't care and this is what they are hoping for.
