Ravi is spot on with his comment about Starmer's and Rayner's conduct when it came to accusing Boris Johnson of not behaving correctly. It was not just Boris, it was a range of Ministers they attacked over anything and everything when in apposition. Even in government they blame the Conservatives for everything. Those who live by the sword must expect to die by the sword. Had this been a Conservative minster in the previous government Starmer, Rayner and co would have been all over this demanding resignations. They have only themselves to blame for the outcry and I, for one, have no sympathy for them given their behaviour when in opposition. Do as you would be done by, and Starmer, Rayner and co were pretty vicious when they were in opposition.

It now emerges the "advice" Rayner was given contained a clear warning it was not specialist advice and she should seek such advice. That, it appears, is the reason she was found in breach of the Ministerial Code.

She should have used a solicitor to do her conveyancing. The licensed conveyancers are in a difficult position as it seems they submitted, on Rayner's behalf, an incorrect SLDT return.
