I'm not offended by christian traditions or a belief in whatever god one chooses (and there is of course fierce global competition on that issue) or any new religion or superstition for that matter, if peaceful. It just needs to be kept out of the law itself and also not allowed to unreasonably impact on non-believers in any sphere of their personal or commercial lives. As long as nothing religiously meaningful happens at the annual ceremony by way of judicial obeisance, I therefore can't see a problem with it as just another colourful British tradition.
