In years to come, and it won't be very many years, the church will wholeheartedly accept equal rights for homosexuals. It will probably claim that it was at the forefront of the drive for equality. Why? Because if it doesn't it will find itself out of step with the great majority of society, just as it did with slavery and women's rights.

It is true that this country is constitutionally Christian and the church is legally tied to the State. If Christians would like it to stay that way I would suggest that they listen to the views of the majority and fall into line, because if they don't it is only a matter of time before the marriage of church and State is annulled.
