As the present position of the profession is not due to a vacuum or weakness of leadership, but contrived by that leadership as a government tool, it cannot be remedied from within.

The Law Society has colluded in creating the perfect conditions for the weakening of the rule of law, and thereby the separation of powers. They allowed the creation of a glut of prescribed, commercially aware solicitors, and have recently created as many possible, untested routes into the profession, to ensure a constant supply of cheap resources for the ABS service providers.

Quality and price are left to the market place, but without the punters being able to judge the product, or its price, let alone whether it can be trusted.

Gone are the professional ethics and fiduciary protection, clients are left to the ethics of commercialisation. Consuming a product from companies, who owe their main duty to their investors, and can use administration to avoid creditors, at any time, leaving the rest of the profession to pick up the tab.

As the Law Society et al control legal service qualification and practice and are not merely a representative body, it would appear the members have little power, unless they invoke and use the constitution under which the society was formed.
