Why extend powers that effectively do not exist?. Have we any statistics on successful whistle blower claims?

Whistle-blowers of management malpractice are invariably dismissed for unrelated conduct/competency. Issues and gagged- see media exposure of NHS whistle-blowers.

In an employment tribunal the onus in on the employee to prove he is afforded such protection, an almost impossible task as dependent upon his employer’s documents and witnesses, and sought in employer friendly, cost cutting employment tribunals, without legal representation ( except on rare occasions when a unions is prepared to take on management ).

First the law must be changed to allow effective whistleblowing, and then extended as suggested, particularly to the police, and the ever increasing agency workers, mainly on zero hours contracts that now form the backbone of NHS and care services.
