You are quite correct, but sadly that is the position we have got ourselves into. And to some extent we have only ourselves to blame as we are, uniquely, the profession to which these 'dissatisfied' (sic., or rather sick!) clients run for redress.

Also to blame, however, are our insurers. When I was in practice it was like falling off a log getting £3,000 out of SIF, that figure being most firms' excess so in effect SIF' was not paying it, their insurers were!
