If the Gazette is publishing this, it means someone, somewhere, has a plan, to try to make more money from us. I think I know what it is....

The Law Society Conveyancing Recruitment Application Process (LS-CRAP)

For a small fee of only £3,000 per annum all CQS member firms will be required to use LS-CRAP to help "reduce the skills gap" and create "enhanced betterness". It will henceforth become a criminal offence for a solicitors' firm to employ a conveyancer who is not LS-CRAP. (This does not, of course, apply to licensed conveyancers).

All potential recruits will be vigorously, strenuously and thoroughly vetted, by making them log on to a website, and tell us what ethnic minority their cat belongs to. They will be able to tick boxes such as:-

[_] Can you read?

[_] R u good at conveyancing?

[_] Do you have a big, green (unopened) folder somewhere in your office, marked "Quality Conveyancing Scheme Rules", with template letters for Risk Assessment, Client Analysis, and Skills Consideration?

Only recruits who tick all three boxes will be suitable, and that way the skills gap will be reduced.
