Is this serious? The division of child-care, housework et. al. in a two-adult household is for the adults concerned. Not for their employers.

As long as a substantial number of women - but very few men - take several years out of their careers (in law or anything else) fewer women than men will reach the top, because the people who don't do that will be gaining experience and promotion. And for several years where they live will depend on the need of A N Other who is putting the bread on the table, and when they want to go back there may be nobody who wants them. That's life.

Oh, and as to the powder-puff: were there cuff-links too?
