It almost seems to keep up to date in some areas of law requires 16 hours cpd a month or in immigration 16 hours a week.

Whenever I book onto a relevant update course, most of the time I am told there are no places left, but I could either wait several months for the next round or attend a course hundreds of miles away.

SRA are distracted by the non issues once more. The number of hours is always irrelevant, it is the quality and availability of CPD. The SRA should chase after the course providers and rather than contract out training instead administer the cpd themselves issuing regular updates to its members themselves.

I would like regular updates issued in a similar way to the Gazette, perhaps in electronic form to seperate out areas of law. At the moment the Gazette is just a pissing contest for lawyers to make a name for themselves and usually goes straight in the bin.

As an aside, how many courses have you all been on where you get to leave early but still claim the CPD? Be honest... It is the training providers who are the scourge on the profession.
