It settled. What else could they do?
Events! That is why we have Practice Management in the office and not only at court, to anticipate what events are likely to occur and provide for them in the budget.
Most firms have computerised costs recording systems. It is easy, and wise, to have frequent checks on work in progress, costs liabilities, staff requirements and general financial and work in progress planning. A diary also helps, they are quite cheap!
It aint rocket science!.
As for being "perfect". If you consider basic business skills as evidence of "perfection" I'm glad I don't work at your firm.
As for your attitude towards what is or what is not "an odd notion of Justice" is this not the very point I was making?
When I joined there was a saying "Justice shall not only be done but must be seen to be done" hence the requirement for strict compliance with court orders. Now court orders are not worth the paper they are written on. time limits are meaningless.
That first saying was replaced by "You don't come to court to get justice".
That saying has now been replaced by the saying "We are not here to dispense Justice: we are here to resolve a dispute"
Perhaps that last saying is about to be replaced by the first saying and this is the real reason there is so much concern as to where you are all going. To many it would appear to be unknown: to those of my age it is not.
