What seems to have been overlooked by the lunatics who are currently in charge is that it's the client who gets screwed if their lawyer steps out of line, even though it's the lawyer who was at fault.

Yes, in theory, the client can sue the lawyer for negligence, but why should the poor sod have to start the whole miserable litigation process again, this time with the added complication of assessing the risk of success in the struck out claim? It's unlikely to be 100%, so at best they are going to have to take a hit on the original value of their claim.

The stupid idiots who have created this environment think they are punishing the lawyers by refusing relief from sanctions, but what they have actually achieved is the denial of justice to innocent people.
