My Lady De'Beers, It was good to see you back on here as I feared we had lost you and the benefit of your wise words.

You will struggle to find any verbal elegance on these pages, My Lady. You can already see that one contributor, Anon9.26, is unable to spot irony when it is staring him in the face. I once had an articled clerk whom I told should not split his infinitives. " What's an infinitive?" Came his reply. Where do you begin to try to educate people who do not even have 'the tools in their toolbox' to analyse such situations?

"A lawyer without any history or literature is a mechanic, a mere working mason ; a lawyer who possesses some knowledge of these may venture to call himself an architect", Sir Walter Scott.

I apprehend that there are fewer and fewer architects remaining in this profession, My Lady De'Beers, so please do contact me on 01492877014 when we can compare syntax and parse a few sentences, maybe try out a subjunctive or two. You and I are on the same wave length, and my guess is that that is Long Wave, Radio 4 to be precise.

I remain your obedient servant, etc.
