My wife's car was hit by a bus on a country lane, she was not injured but the car was damaged. She reported the incident to her insurers. She also sent a full statement which was attached to the claim form sent to her insurers, who instructed solicitors.

Later said solicitors sent her a statement, which bore no relation to the actual facts as set out in her statement. When she queried this, the (presumably unqualified) member of the solicitor's staff said that they had not read the statement. She did not sign their statement and they did not send her another.

The claim was settled in full.

Oh, and my wife is a solicitor.

My feeling is that the solicitors in the present case had it coming.
