I acted for two very elderly parties who fell for this scheme in huge amounts (in one case over £2000000 - all their savings) and when they complained to the SRA they were told there was nothing that could be done because Mr Walker was not their solicitor (they didnt have solicitors they were just sent paperwork which they signed and sent back). These were well off but unsavvy vulnerable people who were quite literally preyed upon. Counsel's advice was sought and gave a negative view of any claim because of the wording of the sales brochure which was, unsurprisingly, very clever. nothing can help those people because they are never going to get their money back (money was either paid to companies which then went into liquidation or to individuals who were using false names or were based abroad). I think that is why the investigation took so many years to come to Court.
