I believe he was a Conveyancer ? Why is it when becoming President, the rule of law and all these highbrow academic issues become a priority ?

Why can't he say he specifically wants to focus on PII and addressing such issues that matter to the vast majority of the Profession ?

I have seen countless Presidents go down this route and retire saying they have had a marvellous year touring abroad etc., whilst the vast majority shake their heads whilst still being told the bank has not received the three faxed requests for a redemption statement.
