It's obviously not unreasonable to bring in fees; there is a court issue fee after all.

But looking at the judgment, you get remission for fees unless:

"by way of example, a single claimant with no children bringing a type B claim would have to pay a full issue fee once their monthly [disposable] income exceeded £1,545 (annual equivalent £18,540) and a full hearing fee once it exceeded £2,985 (£35,820)."

Is it really a denial of access to justice to ask someone with one and a half k spare every month to pay £250 for an issue fee? That's less than half an iphone.

The striking absence in the case is any person coming forward to say "I have not brought a case because I cannot afford the issue fee"...
