There are an awful lot of very silly comments in this thread, some of them possibly bordering on defamatory.
As someone who has been a policy civil servant dealing with public sector procurement I am only too conscious how costs can increase in many cases as a direct result of the instructions being widened beyond the original remit. A combination of increased projects, broadened ministerial desires or a lack of civil servants to carry out a comparable role were only part of the reason for the increased costs. It is all to easy to throw rocks from the sidelines.
In our case, I will defend to the hilt the quality of advice received on the and I have utmost respect for the individual solicitors and the firm. I also saw no sign whatsoever of spinning the clock, and I was one of those responsible for arranging paying the monthly invoices.
