The alleged scale of the fraud is a myth. Approximately 10 years ago fraud rings emerged and initially succeeded until insurers finally invested resources into law firm to properly investigate. They did so with some considerable success and were quite rightfully congratulated. Unfortunately some of the law firms became over zealous in doing their paymasters bidding and started accusing everyone of fraud. They unwittingly became the perpetrators of fraud themselves for example by encouraging fault parties to misrepresent the severity of impacts and this has contributed to the LVI / causation phenomenon which is now in vogue.
