David Crawford - in my experience (10 years of medico-legal), your estimation of the 'honesty' of PI solicitors is vastly overstated. I've lost count of the number of solicitor clients who have complimented our service levels, and the quality/thoroughness of my reports, but ultimately started to source reports elsewhere because "Dr X always gives a minimum 12 month prognosis". And if you dare allude to the possibility of an non-existent injury in a report, then you won't hear from them again.

There are still some honest ones around, who want a 'just' outcome, but they are in the minority - the majority just want to maximise the payout for their client, regardless of the true severity of injury, and even regardless of whether or not there was an injury in the first place.
