The only way I can think to deal with this situation, Sarah, is to agree with your fellow professionals only to take on the job on payment being made in advance. I certainly only operate on that basis now. Shame really as when in practice I paid my bills on the day they came in. However, I do accept that the legal aid situation muddies the water, but that is unlikely to be with us for much longer.
