"... while I am still on the Roll, I have not been in practice since 1981. Since then I have been a corporate client on numerous occasions (and a private one on a few), and have generally been very satisfied with the quality of service received in England, Scotland and elsewhere. Value for money, however, particularly in England, is another story..... In a project in collaboration with a City firm and I was asked to double my hourly rate (which was already higher than I usually charged) because the difference was embarrassing. ."

I must confess, I wish I could run a consultancy and avoid all the regulatory requirements / inquisitions (like that against Criminal briefs at the moment by the SRA and LJC's drumming up regulatory infringements and actively going looking for them).

Can you get into trouble doing this? I cant see it. You say to your clients you are a Solicitor presumably and then say you cant actually practice as one but they are getting he same service? I must say it is very attractive to me.
