I really think the fee's are a scandal! Take someone who has had their inheritance stolen by another, who was not entitled to a penny from said estate. It is going to cost over £400-£500 to just "lodge" the case, never mind a hearing fee on top. That's a heavy price to be paid by just one entitled beneficiary with a) no guarantee of a win and associated costs or that b) other beneficiaries will pay their fair share of court costs but will be there if it's a "win."

The justice system down South seems unhinged depending on what part of the country you reside.

In London for instance, the CPS will prosecute for someone committing criminal fraud/theft by using a deceased persons bank card, whilst the NorthEast CPS, don't give two hoots and don't prosecute. Even when £15k of an estate has been stolen they fail to allow the police to act, as said by the NorthEast CPS, they have become the judge and jury before a case even gets to a judge and jury!

If someone steals, then they have stolen, simple! It's a shame that unless police officers in England see a crime with their own eyes or via CCTV footage, apparently matters need to be referred to CPS for "charging advice" what a lot of nonsense.

Meanwhile, relatives, who have been clearly stolen from, have to resort to raising a civil claim, with high fees in order to hopefully try and recover what was rightfully theirs in the first instance. Thereby, doing the CPS and police's jobs for them - what a bargain, NOT!
