Solicitors have no inherent unity of purpose. A high street solicitor has no unity of purpose with a City firm. If you mean that solicitors should stand united and protects their interests while also advancing the interests of the public, those are the very things which the Society has failed to achieve. The creation of the SRA was the Society's chance to show how effective it could be as a representative organisation. It blew that chance.
