Indeed, Peter, it would seem as if solicitors' professional negligence began, well, dare I say it, in 1975. I wonder why?

And at least a 5 year training period in a local practice meant one could live at home, at much lower cost (and not pick up some of those bad habits living away).

However, I think there is at least a partial comparing of apples with pears. These days the University of Law gives a lot more practical training and examples of how files should be run. In my day (Part II Guildford 1972-73) we were given half a dozen very flimsy 'Blue Books' and a series of lectures when people like R G Holbrook and Assheton read them out.

I therefore think the discussion by LS/SRA might consider looking at the quality of courses as well as the correct structure.
