You have to invest some time in order to win, both with children and with litigants and judges. Why not simply carry the little blighter to bed and sit there with him until he gives up the fight - take something to read because, at first, in my experience it can take quite a long time. Just like adults (including defendant insurers) children do eventually get the message.

I used this method with DJs who felt it was always necessary to tax something off any bill. I would invariably insisted on appearing following a provisional taxation where the bill was reduced. Sometyimes I won and sometimes not but eventually they got the message.
