It is a disgrace that the courts do not take abuse by women against men as seriously as the reverse.

The solicitor I had during my divorce commented, when I outlined the abuse that I had endured from my wife - abuse confirmed by frequent police visits to our house - "the judge won't take any notice of that, you have to have been shot with a shotgun or something". Ignoring the fact that I had been diagnosed with mental illness long before the divorce and subsequently subjected to a long campaign of violence by my ex wife.

So very clearly, there is a double standard where men are treated differently to women in the divorce courts. This is a very serious kind of discrimination. Prejudice that confounds justice perpetrated by judges as a matter of course, means that injustice is endemic in the divorce courts.

I note that so far, no "professional" of the law has commented on the matter. There is a reason for this:

People who are or have beeb abused are very often ill. Such abuse makes them ill. And sick people are low hanging fruit for the judges and lawyers in the divorce courts. Money is no object when it is someone else's money and judges can award juicy costs against those who dare to say that they are ill. This is particularly the case where mental illness is concerned.

Having been through two divorces (multiple divorce is a known indicator of PTSD) I can say with some authority that the divorce court is simply a well orchestrated system for extracting money from people in torment. And human nature being what it is, ALL the solicitors, barristers and judges involved in divorce matters know it and probably all participate in it.

During my first divorce I was a soldier and on one occasion I went to court in uniform. The court usher was an elderly man wearing a blazer on which he proudly wore the badge of the Hampshire Regiment.

He whispered to me "look here son, in the court they refer to people like you as "payers". They will do their best to get as much out of you as they can. Oh and don't expect the judge to help you as he is probably looking for his next engagement as a barrister."

And that, ladies and gentlemen looks like corruption to me.

So my experience is domestic violence victims are abused’ BY the family court!
