Why won't the SRA tell me how much they charge per hour when they take a solicitor before SDT and who does the work? Why will SRA not allow those solicitors and barristers it instructs to represent 'defendant' solicitors? Some of them are on their uppers and cannot therefore afford representation. Those who can cannot instruct those who appear for the 'prosecution'. This is an unlevel playing field and these questions need answering.

I am all for kicking the dishonest, or incompetent, out of this profession, but not all who are pursued by SRA fall into these categories and should be allowed proper, professional and experienced representation.

And some of the costs orders are eye watering, by my standards anyway they are. Clifford Chance would probably disagree, but should the profession as a whole suffer because of them?
