If a claim involves loss of earnings, and the claimant is a high earner then the "value" of the claim will be high.

If the next claim is identical, but the claimant is unemployed, disabled or retired then the loss of earnings claim will usually be lower. Often significantly lower.

The same amount of work has to be done in both cases.

The "value" of the claim must not be measured simply on the amount of compensation awarded. The importance of the matter and the complexity are highlighted within the CPR. It's time they were given the prominence they deserve.
