Automatic run-off is a benefit which generally only exists in single-provider schemes, though the CLC has tried to cater for it by including run-off, subject to significant limitations, in the initial premium (and which may therefore distort the market and make it more difficult for some to obtain cover in the first place).

I simply don't see the various factions in the profession voting for a return to a SIF-like scheme. (But I thought the UK wouldn't vote for Brexit...) However, even if the profession did vote for a return to SIF, it would have to get that past both the SRA and the LSB, and that , in the current climate, is unimaginable.
