An interesting article on an interesting man. Lloyd George can hardly be held responsible for starting WW1, though he deserves some credit for helping to win it. Following that war he advocated reconciliation with Germany long before appeasement and Hitler were fashionable. That may possibly have been a mistaken policy but hardly a discreditable one. And whilst he was initially at fault regarding Hitler (a fault he shared with many others, as Michael Cross points out) he did in 1938/39 push hard and unavailingly for a full military alliance with the USSR, which was the only way of preventing another German war.
