Mr Maloney, I was genuinely undecided which way to vote, but decided for the status quo because of the possibility of unintended consequences. The consequences of remaining were less unknown, even if not wholly palatable to everyone; the consequences of leaving were broadly completely unknown (apart from the silly 'Project Fear'). Apart from slogans ('get back our sovereignty') the Leave side made no coherent positive case, except for the £350m a week saved for the HNS (which even Boris acknowledged was untrue).

Being constitutionally conservative, voting 'remain' was a rational choice. It doesn't mean that I can 'precisely define' what is meant by 'ever closer union,' nor can reasonably be expected to.

While enormously entertaining, the conduct of our elected politicians on both sides was woeful, and embarrassing.
