Most conveyancing is process only. The trouble is that there are many instances when it should not just be a process and does require some experienced and knowledgeable input from someone qualified to spot a problem and unless that person is involved in the whole process this is not going to happen. However if someone doesn't care about getting the job done properly on the acquisition of the most valuable asset they probably will ever acquire then I suppose they will have to be happy with what they pay for.
I stopped doing residential work many, many years ago - the boredom factor got me quite early on because of the amount of "process" involved. However I know one or two very good conveyancers whom I would always use if I needed someone to act on a sale or purchase. I am lucky that I am able to judge what a good conveyancer needs to be, but unfortunately the average punter does not and they are prey to marketing. Furthermore the unrelenting attack on legal fees for conveyancing since the days of Thatcher has led to the public thinking that they should get a five star service for a one star price. This has in turn lost from the field many good conveyancers and now from what I see people are more often than not paying a three star price for a one star service.
