Thank you, Martin. In fact i told my children that i would not support them if they wanted to do law. I did not want to be answerable to them when they found out that there 'is something rotten in the state' of the law. My advice to the two on leave would be to opt for something other than private practice when they return. Personally I cannot see things getting any better. There seems to be no appetite for properly sorting out and then discouraging dishonesty before it happens. It is obvious what should be done, that is report them automatically to the police, but SRA just will not do it. I would suggest the public sector and personally would opt for HMRC as tax is an interest of mine, or the NHS LA, or employment by a charity e g RSPCA, although that has had a chequered time of things recently.
