Perfectly well agree that it should be on merit but really, are we all content to suggest that a group of relatively old, white, mostly privately educated men who spent their careers primarily in Court rooms with other relatively old, white, mostly privately educated men are in a position to properly understand the multitude complexities of modern Britain, as well as the law itself?
