Have I missed something here? Former LPC and BPTC students are doing this already as paid McKenzie friends. It's the only way they can earn money and pay off their debts, if they're not employed by a law firm or in pupillage. If the idea now is that they do this unpaid and "for the experience", isn't this a return to the days of unpaid articled clerks and pupils? I think the MR has been influenced too much by the Tulkinghorns of the profession. If this is the best that can be done, the future indeed looks "bleak".
