Much needs to be made of the potential for ancillary effects here:

- Less revenues for HMRC as solicitors, experts, medical agencies and other related businesses either go out of business or otherwise make substantially less in fees;

- Increased CMC involvement in the sector is bound to follow as the solicitor PI sector contracts (and how will that tie in with the SRA's latest shennanigans in terms of a seperate code for solicitors working outside of the regulated arena and cold calling?);

- Raising the PI SCT limit will do little to stifle fraud relating to the vehicular damage side of things whether it be 'crash for cash' or dodgy dealings in the garage, the lot or otherwise;

- DWP/NHS recoverables will be affected for obvious reasons of less people making claims for 'minor' injuries;

- Those who brave it alone in the courts will only worsen the current problems with litigants in person.

Of course, that is just some of the potential fall out, and those parts of it which we can reasonably confidently predict. Who knows what else might follow.
