@Martin Moloney: yes, but I am not sure why that is relevant. UK IP solicitors benefit from being a hub for European IP work (attracting clients from outside the EU), they have been at the centre of the campaign to get the UPC established, a retired CA judge is in charge of selecting the judges, UK lawyers have influenced the rules of procedure, they lobbied David Cameron to get the life sciences court in London (including obtaining an independent economic report showing the significance of the revenues of UK IP legal work to the UK economy (hundreds of millions) and the potential loss of income if the central division of the UPC were not to be located in London), and so on. Irrespective of the general merits or otherwise of Brexit, IP is an area where close cooperation with the EU is in the UK's economic interests.
