There are two reasons why the SRA will have to view this seriously.

First of all, there is the issue of consistency. I note that a solicitor with an unblemished record was struck off the other day for altering the dates on legal aid claims. It seems that the work was actually done, but claims were out of time and backdated.

Secondly, if the SRA do nothing, the entire insurance industry will be screaming to the media, that the profession is doing nothing to stop systematic overcharging. We've taken a battering over the Shiner case, and the SRA can ill afford to let something as sensitive as overcharging go by.
