"The lord chief justice has accused lord chancellor Liz Truss of failing to understand her constitutional role in the aftermath of the article 50 judgment."

Of course she doesn't. Not only does she not hold a single legal qualification, she hasn't any experience in law as far as I am aware, until the first day of her appointment.

I'm at the stage where I am actually beginning to feel sorry for Ms. Truss. It is a ridiculous idea to appoint someone to this position with no background in law, let alone no judicial experience, so why appoint someone like that as the head of the Judiciary?

Three successive Lord Chancellors who are unqualified and inexperienced, and we wonder firstly why our judicial system is in a mess, and secondly why our Government do not seem to understand the issues.

I suggest that the appointment of Lord Chancellors who have no understanding or grasp of the legal system really shows what the Government thinks of our legal system. If it is thought that lay people are required, put them in some sort of capacity to voice their opinion - not head up the judiciary.

Sadly all we can do at present is hope that there is a change in Government and policy to the next appointment. Some hope of that happening.
