The Commons has voted in favour of an early election, meeting the criteria of the Fixed Term Parliaments Act (but hasn't repealed the Act?).

While Liz Truss hasn't been a stellar Lord Chancellor, I think replacing her is a very low priority. Legal questions generally are a low priority, and the sort of forensic scrutiny that say, Dominic Grieve (whom I slightly know and respect), might bring to the process can have little impact on the political imperatives, which are all about whether May has electoral support for what she is doing. Thus far (early days) she has that support.
