It's not that they're "saying something the insurers like", rather, the Claimant being interviewed has no reason to lie. Who pockets the £400? That would be the Claimant's solicitors.

Yet, if a disingenuous claim proceeds, the Claimant pockets a fair amount too - although probably not as much as their solicitor. So it follows, they do have good reason to lie, or exaggerate at least.

No-one does hypocrisy quite like a Claimant's solicitor do they...
