‘It’s time that the system was more compassionate to their situation and put the needs of these vulnerable people centre stage.’

Why? 'The system' is adversarial. To remain fair and impartial, no side should ever be 'centre stage'.

If liability is clear cut the courts order substantial interim payments so as not to keep Claimants out of their money. There is not even any need to prove what they're going to spend it on is necessary or reasonable.

If liability is not clear cut, Defendants are entitled to their day in court.

As for damages not meeting all lifetime needs, what about claims arising out of 50/50 or 75/25 accidents? Is the SIA suggesting they should still recover 100% of the value of their claim?
