I posted the opening comment.

While I appreciate that my argument won't be improved merely by its repetition, I do think there is something fundamentally wrong in trying to coin a neologism in place of the perfectly good, existing form.

The words 'discount rate' might have a different meaning in a different context, however it is surely preferable to explain or allude to this within a piece, rather than reinventing the wheel by coining a phrase which is incorrect and misleading. I say 'misleading' on the basis that the Ogden tables are full of rates, but the discount rate is not one of them! This is quite aside from the fact there is no such think as "the Ogden rate".

I think you should refer to it by its proper name. I can think of no good reason not to.
