Just for those posters advocating a form of national insurance for car insurance isn't that just what the NHS is for the UK population, not sure that's a good advert for nationalising car insurance!

As far as the new discount rate is concerned, nobody seems to know if seriously injured claimants are on to a (compensation) winner with the new rate, as on the one hand insurers say they are, but on the other claimant lawyers say they aren't, surely somebody can work out the true state of affairs? In the meantime the only people really suffering are motor insurance customer, which is probably most of us on this website having to pay ever increasing motor insurance premiums.
