Mr Leachman, There's no suggestion in any of the news stories I've read that this disaster was attributable to any failures under the 1985 Act. At present the cause of the fire's spreading so quickly seems to have been the "upgrading" of the building to accommodate energy-saving insulation in pursuit of "green" targets. There may have been costcutting in so far as (incredibly) the contractor was allowed to use inflammable materials, but it's far too early to speculate where the ultimate responsibility lies. And there's undoubtedly something more than a little distasteful in seeing certain commentators trying to score political points out of this shocking event.
