A remarkable man, the most amazing litigtor I have ever come across. As the out door clerk for Weightmans, Liverpool in late 70's I came could across Mr Makin on a regular basis. I had an agency taxation, in which I simply read out the objections. Mr Makin, was in full flow in front of the DJ, he knew ever aspect of the case, the client, offers and my client's attitude to "justice". He won and as I walked out the chambers tail between my legs, he just smiled the look of a man who knew how to play the game. Oh and win! RIP Mr Makin.
