To anon at 15.18 on 16th August. A letter was published in the Telegraph yesterday which perfectly illustrates your point concerning confusion about gifts. The correspondent is attorney under an LPA over the affairs of his wife who lost capacity some years ago. He complains that the LPA does not enable him to provide house deposits for the children by mortgaging the jointly owned house and does not understand why an expensive application to court would be necessary.
