The change to the discount rate has cost the insurers very little so far because they have thrown their toys from the pram and are refusing to progress and settle cases wherever they possibly can.
Their tantrums have been heard and a suitably sugared pill will be administered by the government in a few months.
I doubt they will all then issue press releases saying , " sorry, we were wrong. The DR has changed again and it isn't going to cost us billions like we claimed it would and there is therefore no reason to increase premiums other than to boost our profits".
