Merely stating that a remark is incorrect does not of course make it so. As has been discussed elsewhere, Parliament is sovereign and an Act of Parliament therefore overrides any previous law that is inconsistent with it. If the preceding law was part of the common law (by reason of having been established by judicial precedent in the past) then the common law is replaced by statute law. For an example, see section 3 of the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996, which abolished the common law doctrine of conversion (whereby land that was the subject of a trust for sale was treated as personal property rather than real property).
